Semtech Planned Activity - AirLink MGOS Device Certificate Update Day 2 (GNOC-9316)

Scheduled for Sep 10, 16:00 - 20:00 UTC

Scheduled

As detailed in our Security Bulletin (link below) sent August 11, 2025, MGOS devices require firmware updates before September 27, 2025, when current security certificates expire.

Devices that do not have an updated security certificate on September 27, 2025, will be unable to establish a connection with AirLink Mobility Manager (AMM), and your ability to manage these devices remotely will therefore be lost.

This notice is to inform you that Semtech will attempt to make security certificate updates via AMM configuration changes to certain MGOS devices running firmware versions below 4.4.2.1 that require the update. We intend to take this action to reduce the number of devices that will lose their connection to AMM when the security certificates expire.

Wednesday September 10
Start Time: 16:00 UTC
Anticipated Completion Time: 20:00 UTC
AMM02, AMM03, AMM04, AMM05, AMM06, AMM07, AMM08, AMM09, AMM10, AMM11

SCOPE:
• Hosted AMM instances
• MG90 devices with firmware versions below 4.4.2.1
• MGOS devices currently online and reporting to AMM
OUT OF SCOPE:
• ALEOS devices (unaffected)
• On-premises AM/AMM instances
• Devices already running firmware 4.4.2.1 or newer
IMPACT DURING:
• AMM Platform: No disruption - remains fully operational
• Device Communication to AMM: 10-second communication loss per device to AMM server.
• Device Operations: Continue functioning normally (except brief AMM sync interruption)
• User Experience: Minimal - temporary status update delays in AMM console
POST:
• Certificate updates are permanent (no remote rollback capability)
• Future firmware upgrades must go directly to v4.4.2.1+ to maintain AMM connectivity
• Devices requiring intermediate versions must be updated locally

If your MGOS device has not reported back after the configuration push after 1 hour, please reboot your device.
